Dr. Matthews is a highly accomplished first-generation Caribbean woman. She embarked on a transformative journey leading her to Rhode Island, where she enrolled in Brown University's prestigious 8-year medical continuum program. At Brown, she completed 4 years of undergraduate study and 4 years of medical school.

Driven by a profound sense of responsibility, Dr. Matthews made a pivotal decision when her mother was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.

She recognized the importance of being close to her family during this challenging time and returned to New York. In New York, she seized the opportunity to join The Brooklyn Hospital's Pediatric Residency program.
