As We Step Into A New Year, Let's Disrupt the Norm!

Dec 31, 2023

Leaders, as we enter a new year, let's disrupt the norm.

Ditch the resolutions since they don't work for the majority of people.

And there’s no point in repeating the same patterns.

It might be time for something new if your approach didn’t have the impact you wanted.

Instead, let's dive into impactful actions that elevate your team's well-being.

Because if you've experienced high turnover and disgruntled employees.

Something is missing.

And 2024 is the year you can take action.

Here are 5 concrete actions you can take in 2024 to help you.

Dynamic Well-Being Check-Ins: Replace generic annual reviews with monthly dynamic well-being check-ins. Regular, intentional conversations about team members' well-being create a supportive environment. Address challenges, celebrate victories, and co-create strategies for sustained well-being.

Cultivate a Well-Being Mindset. Encourage team members to make daily choices that align with their overall well-being goals. This approach creates a sustainable commitment to personal and professional growth. But you’ll have to ensure that managers understand what that looks like and their role in setting the team up for success.

Micro-Habits for Macro Results: Forget big gestures; focus on micro-habits. Encourage small, consistent actions that contribute to overall well-being. From short breaks to mindfulness practices, these micro-habits create a positive well-being ripple effect throughout the team. Instead of marathon Zoom meetings, make them shorter and include breaks.

Invest in resources: Show your commitment to your team's growth by providing opportunities for professional development. This could be workshops, courses, or even mentorship programs tailored to their career goals.  For example, you can create a series of trainings that will help workers build a self-care plan or discuss the role of managers in preventing burnout.

Ask for feedback: I'm not talking about the "how are you" type of feedback. This feedback is tailored specifically to employee well-being. Make the surveys anonymous and encourage all staff to take them. Review the data and then create a strategy based on what you learn.

May 2024 be your best year yet, and I hope these tips help.
