The Real Reason You’re Not Losing Weight (it’s not what you think)
Jan 12, 2025
You made a resolution to lose weight and take better care of yourself this year.
You were going to hit the gym.
You were going to eat better.
Finally, you were going to take care of yourself.
We’re already 12 days in, and it has been tough.
It’s not your fault.
Every day at work has been crazy busy.
Deadlines, meetings, constant demands—it's been non-stop.
It’s hard.
Last year, you’ve tried everything—eating better, moving more, even skipping meals.
But the weight won’t budge.
You’re not lazy.
You’re not broken.
And you’re not alone.
Here’s what’s really happening.
Stress and exhaustion keep pushing you back to old habits.
Your body is under stress.
So it clings to every bit of fat it can.
Stress makes you crave comfort foods—hello, cookies and chips!
And then the guilt hits.
You think, “If only I had more willpower.”
But this isn’t about willpower.
Your body is in survival mode.
This is your stress response in action.
And unless you interrupt it, the cravings take over.
The good news?
You can interrupt it.
Here’s how to start:
- Pause. When you feel a craving coming on, take 3 deep breaths. This helps calm your nervous system.
- Distract. Get up, drink water, or take a quick walk. Just a few minutes can reset your brain’s response.
- Reflect. Ask yourself: “Am I hungry, or am I stressed?” Awareness is the first step to breaking the cycle.
Imagine not being controlled by cravings.
Imagine feeling lighter, healthier, and back in control of your choices.
You don’t have to stay stuck in this cycle.
