High Achiever? Great. Now Ask Yourself This One Question...
Jun 15, 2025
Are you doing the things that matter?
I went to a funeral yesterday.
A co-worker. Gone too soon.
And on the drive home, I couldn’t stop thinking.
How are we really spending our time here?
Especially the women in my life.
The ones doing everything for everyone.
Always saying.
“I’ll rest after this project.”
“I’ll take care of myself once things slow down.”
“I’ll start that dream when the timing’s right.”
But there’s always something.
The job.The kids. A deadline.
But what if the timing never is right?
What if the delay becomes the default?
Here’s what hit me in the car. We don’t get forever.
Sometimes we dismiss ourselves.
We gaslight our own symptoms.
Ignore the aching joints.
Dismiss the brain fog.
"It’s just stress."
"It’s just getting older."
But it’s not fine.
So this week, I want you to take one small step toward the life you want.
Here are three ways to start:
1. Say no to something that drains you.
One task. One person.
One obligation that no longer serves you.
2. Do one thing just because it brings you joy.
A walk.
A playlist.
A hot bath.
A long phone call with your bestie
3. Schedule the thing you’ve been putting off.
The sleep.
The massage.
The doctor’s visit.
That "crazy" business idea.
You don’t need a full life makeover today.
But you do need to stop waiting for permission.
And I promise. When you start choosing you.
Not next year.
Not someday.
Now. Things will start changing.
Because the life you want?
It doesn’t show up when you earn it.
It shows up when you claim it.
And the moment you do?
Everything shifts.
Rooting for you,
Dr. Beckford
