I have often wondered why does an organization allow toxicity?
An organization is like a living being.
For an organization to function well, all parts need to be healthy.
Then why does the organization ignore a virus when it starts to spread?
Why does it watch the other cells die or wither away?
In this case, people quit.
The thing is, you can spot toxic people.
The toxicity can be from a leader who says, "well, this is how we have always done it."
Dangerous words.
Or the people that are constantly talking over others and putting them down.
Or the gossip monger, who always is spreading things that aren't true.
Leaders, if you are seeing this in your organization, it's time to treat or eliminate the virus.
Think about it, when you're sick, you try ways to heal, either going to the doctor or even other remedies.
You take care of yourself, now it's time for the organization to take care of itself, organizational selfcare.
As you start this week, think about the people on your team.
Do you have a virus infecting your team?
