Happy 2023!

Is your company struggling with employee burnout and high-stress levels? It's a problem that plagues many organizations, with almost 70% of workers reporting feeling overwhelmed or unable to cope at their jobs.

Not only is this bad for employee morale and retention, but it can also seriously affect your company's bottom line. In today’s newsletter, I will share 5 tips on how your company can reduce stress and create a healthier work environment.

1. Encourage employees to take breaks and vacations. A little time off can go a long way in helping people relax and recharge. This means that your team can completely plug out from work. It shouldn’t be the case if they are on vacation, but they are expected to check emails and be available for calls. Another option is making a meeting 50 minutes instead of 60 minutes.

2. Foster an open and supportive work culture. When employees feel like they can speak up and be heard, it can help reduce their stress levels. Ask for feedback from your team early and often. You can make this part of 1:1s.

3. Set clear expectations and deadlines. Nothing stresses people out more than feeling unsure about what's expected of them or when things are due. Clear is kind. If you don’t know the answer, say that and commit to finding out.

4. Encourage employees to find work-life balance. Tell the team it is ok to make time for hobbies, family, and other non-work activities. Model that behavior too. Make it normal to take time off for a physical or to pick up a kid from school.

5. Offer support and resources for managing stress. This could be anything from providing access to counseling services to offering stress-reduction workshops or training. This will bring incredible benefits to them at work and home.

As a leader, you must prioritize self-care and support your team in managing stress to maintain a healthy and productive work environment. The best leaders understand that the keys to success are equal parts task management and stress management.
