Try This Technique For Your Team!🫵🏾

Mar 19, 2023

Are your employees constantly stressed out, unproductive, and leaving your company?

The solution might be more straightforward than you think: mindfulness.

Some people view mindfulness as "mumbo jumbo" or a trendy buzzword, but the reality is that a growing body of research supports its effectiveness.  Mindfulness is not a new concept - it has been practiced for thousands of years in various cultures worldwide.

Mindfulness practices have been shown to reduce stress, improve focus and decision-making, and increase overall well-being, which can benefit employees and organizations.

Mindfulness is being present and aware of one's thoughts and surroundings without judgment or distraction. Mindfulness can increase employee productivity, reduce stress and anxiety, and improve overall well-being. It can also lead to better communication and teamwork.

Common ways include meditation, breathing exercises, and yoga.

But what if your employees aren't interested in these practices? There are other options for you to incorporate mindfulness at work.

Walking meetings: Encourage employees to have meetings while walking outside to increase focus.

Gratitude practice: Have employees share one thing they are grateful for at the beginning of each meeting.

Sensory breaks: Provide a quiet space where employees can take a break to engage their senses, such as smelling essential oils or looking at nature.

Coloring break: Provide coloring pages and pencils for employees to take a break and engage in a calming, creative activity.

Guided imagery: Use exercises to help employees visualize positive outcomes and reduce stress. For example, guiding employees to imagine themselves in a peaceful setting or achieving a goal.

Create a mindfulness room: Designate a quiet workspace where employees can meditate, stretch, or practice mindfulness.

Use reminders: Use visual reminders, such as posters or signs, to encourage mindfulness practices throughout the workplace.

To implement mindfulness at work, start by leading by example and making it a part of the company culture. Offer resources and opportunities for employees to practice mindfulness and respect individual preferences and comfort levels.

It's also important to note that mindfulness is not a cure-all or a one-size-fits-all solution. It may not be effective for everyone and should not be used as a substitute for working on other aspects of culture. However, for many people, mindfulness can be a valuable tool for managing stress, improving focus and productivity, and cultivating a more positive outlook. By incorporating mindfulness practices in the workplace, managers can improve employee satisfaction, retention, and productivity while reducing stress and burnout.

I love hearing from you. What mindfulness practices will you incorporate this week?

Always wishing you the best,
