Could Selfcare Be The Answer to Burnout? ❤️

Oct 30, 2022

According to recent data, approximately 77% of Americans have felt or are currently feeling burnout. That is a lot of people!

What IS burnout? Burnout is a psychological response to chronic work stress. This may look like or feel like the following.

Sitting in your car for 20 minutes trying to amp yourself to go inside your building. Or trying to think about a believable lie, so you don't have to go in.

Lacking empathy toward your clients, patients, or those you care for. Thinking, why do these people keep bothering me? Even though it is your job.

When you start to notice the quality of your work is declining. However, you have always been a high performer.

If you are feeling any of the above, there is a high chance you are experiencing burnout.

What is selfcare, and how can it help?  Selfcare is taking the time to do activities that increase your physical and mental wellness.

These are quick, effective ways to help reduce current stress, which will later avoid burnout. To be clear, selfcare techniques alone will not eliminate burnout. Just as burnout is multifactorial, so is the solution.

A great morning routine may include gratitude practice, meditation, yoga, and journaling. Here is the deal. You need to conquer the beginning of the day, so you ENTER into your day, and your day does not ENTER into you.

During the day, if you become stressed, do a quick breathing exercise. Just 2 minutes can lead to relaxation and clarity.

I invite you to incorporate my P.AU.S.E. Technique, which is a quick tool to reduce stress anytime, anywhere. I will discuss this technique more next week. See you then!
